The Body Shop himalayan charcoal purifying glow mask

I saw this face mask on a friend’s bathroom shelf and decided I would give it a try. The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask was given to me as part of a gift bag and had been sat at the back of the bathroom cabinet feeling useless. Now, if you don’t like face masks that ‘tingle’ then stop reading now. Wow, how this face mask from The Body Shop tingles and almost stings! I had a slight moment of panic when I first put it on, thinking I was having an allergic reaction, but as the face mask dried the tingling calmed down. It reminded me of the detox masks I used as a teenager, deeply cleansing and purifying; the difference here is that the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is not drying.

It is a vegan formulation that doesn’t contain any parabens, paraffin, minerals or silicone; it harnesses the power of Himalayan bamboo charcoal, Japanese green tea leaves, and organic tea tree oil sourced from a community in Kenya through their Community Trade programme. The face mask is created using inspiration from Ayurveda, although I cannot see much more information on their website about this. I shall pop in-store to see if I can find out more.

My guess is that the charcoal is what causes the tingling sensation, but I could be wrong. Again, there isn’t much information online about whether it is the combination of ingredients or one specific ingredient that causes the tingling. Again, I may need to visit a store to find out more!

My skin felt pretty amazing afterwards, though! I left it on for 5 minutes only, and will brave it for the full 10 minutes next time. Yup, I will use it again. My skin has remained clear and pores appear smaller. They recommend it is used a couple times a week.

A 75ml tub costs £15 which is great value. Give it a try if you’re looking for a face mask that clears out pores and detoxes the skin.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post, however I did receive a sample to try. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.

Ooo I really want to try this. I hve heard such good things about it. Also that it brightens the skin and I definitely need this as mine can be dull at times! Will be buying!
