My first offering after two months of silence – almonds

Weleda

Weleda

Yes almonds. My favourite nut, oil, milk. I love it flaked, ground, crushed, roasted, whole, half, in marzipan, in cereal, but most of all I love it in beauty products. It is a key ingredient in my home-made face oil, and is the main ingredient in this sensitive skin range from Weleda.

I have found pure, organic sweet almond oil to be a great cleanser, moisturiser, and calmer of skin when it is inflamed or sensitised. Its smell is inoffensive, unlike some oils like argan which can be quite pungent, and it is light enough to be absorbed by skin quickly, yet able to moisturise effectively.

The Weleda almond cleansing lotion does a great job of soothing and balancing skin, but I’m not sure I would use it alone to take off a day’s make-up. It would make a great second step of a double cleanse though. It is mild, fragrance free, suitable for vegans, and has the NATRUE seal of approval.

The soothing facial oil is something I could use every day. They suggest using it to remove eye make-up, but I use it to add a boost to moisturiser on days my skin is feeling sensitive or dry, or on its own at night as a treatment to soften skin. Baby soft skin is possible again! I expected the oil to be 100% sweet almond oil, but the clever folks at Weleda have blended it with extract of organic blackthorn blossom, so that it is quickly absorbed and protects irritated skin quickly.

It’s no secret that I am a fan of Weleda, making use of their skin food so regularly I should have shares in it. Their products are luxury, but without breaking the bank. The almond soothing cleansing lotion is £10.50 for 75ml, and the almond soothing facial oil is £17.95 for 50ml.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post, however I did receive a sample to try. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.
