Holding on to the feeling of Summer with Elemis frangipani monoi body oil – Spa @ home

Smell is a sense that can transport you to far away places in an instant, invoking memories long forgotten. It’s also a great way of prolonging the Summer, now that Autumn has well and truly set in over here in London.

Elemis frangipani monoi body oil

Elemis frangipani monoi body oil – award winning

Elemis’s Frangipani Monoi body oil is fast becoming a favourite of mine, having been introduced to it by a friend – the smell of Coconut Oil and Frangipani combine to remind me of exotic beach holidays. It’s great to dream of Summer holidays when the rain is beating down outside, safe in the knowledge that your skin is benefiting from a luxurious and moisturising treat, whilst giving it a lovely glow / sheen. There are 5 body oils in the range, each with a different mission, and this one’s is to provide long-lasting hydration.

Application

Using a body oil is not for everyone, as some don’t like the greasy feeling it can leave behind if not used properly. The trick is to melt the contents by placing the glass bottle in warm water (coconut oil tends to go hard when cool), and then apply a very small amount to slightly damp skin, trapping in the moisture from your shower / bath. A little really does go a long way in this instance, and my skin remains soft and smooth all day, without any greasy or oily feeling. I like to use it in the mornings after a shower, then enjoy not wearing perfume that day. Some like to use it at night after a bath. Either way, it is a mini-spa treatment that is worth indulging in from time to time.

Free from nasties

It’s free from lots of the regular nasties which are irritating to sensitive skins, such as parabens, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate – surfactant), SLES (sodium laureth sulphate – surfactant), DEA (diethanolamine – lathering agent), mineral oils, artificial colours and silicones. Unfortunately, Elemis do not subscribe to any accreditations to confirm the natural consistency of this product, however their ingredients are fully listed online.

I wonder if there is an every day body oil out there that isn’t as pricey? Curiosity has been piqued, and I am now on the hunt for one. If you know of any, then please let me know 🙂
