My new T3 single pass straighteners vs my old GHDs

My GHDs finally bit the dust a few months ago, which sent me into a bit of a tizz. What would I do without my trusty straighteners?! I’d had my GHDs for more years than I can remember – I bought them when they were just starting out and before they gained cult status (a very long time ago!).

I didn’t have a huge amount of time to shop around, so I made an emergency purchase for the best reviewed straighteners on the market at the time. The T3 single pass straightening & styling iron is a winner of the Allure editor’s choice awards, and is meant to be better for hair than using GHDs – tourmaline infused plates (the science behind which even T3 cannot explain clearly, suffice it to say that they help to repel water from hair in a non-damaging way), adjustable heat setting, infrared heat and smooth ceramic plates.

I’ve owned a T3 ionic hairdryer that uses tourmaline technology and found that it dried my hair super quickly, without leaving it parched like some hairdryers. I trusted that the same would be true of these straighteners, and I haven’t been disappointed. Granted, the poker straightness of GHDs is not achieved without blow drying using a barrel brush first, but that’s fine by me. My hair doesn’t look like straw afterwards, which it did with GHDs.

So, all in all, I am happy with my T3 straighteners, safe in the knowledge that my hair is not being damaged with each use. The only downside is that I really don’t understand the science behind it, and the T3 website doesn’t really explain it very well.
