Stress reliever with the Relax tincture from Organic Pharmacy

Looking forward to better sleep and a calmer aura

Looking forward to better sleep and a calmer aura

The stress hormone, cortisol, is evil. Prolonged high levels lead to all sorts of problems, emotionally and physically. Sadly, you don’t always know that the levels are high because you think you’re coping fine – it’s life after all, and what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Whoever coined that phrase needs a slap.

Relax tincture

So, as part of my original prescription from the Organic Pharmacy a tincture was recommended to me to help my body relax and continue normal functions during times of stress. The relax tincture contains oats (anti-inflammatory*), ashwagandha (nerve tonic), holy basil (helps balance cortisol), and siberian ginseng (improve body’s coping mechanisms), and 10 drops or so in water 3 times a day should do the trick. Couple this with maintaining a healthy diet and limiting caffeine and sugar, and your body is supposed to be better able to deal with stress.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t used it as regularly as prescribed but just when I know I am going to have a busy or challenging day. Has it helped? I like to think so, but that could be psychosomatic. Either way, I am feeling calmer and more relaxed, and that’s all that matters.

It’s not always easy to remove stress from life, so finding a coping mechanism seems to be the best solution, whether it be running, meditation, yoga, massage…whatever works, I suppose. The challenge is figuring out what’s best for you. I’m exploring meditation for the first time in my life.

How do you cope with stress?

*I’m not sure what this has to do with helping your body deal with stress. I couldn’t find enough information on their website to determine why it has been included in this tincture. Suffice it to say that it won’t do any harm taking it 🙂
