My main skin issue, which I am always on the hunt to resolve, is visible pores. They’re the first thing I see on my face, and I don’t like them. Some days, they look like craters and some they’re barely visible – they seem to react with my general health. Sadly, there is no quick fix. Keeping skin clean, using regular masks and peels, strengthening skin with facial oils and serums specially formulated for this issue, protecting it from harmful ageing free radicals, eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, minimising intake of caffeine and other toxins, etc, etc, are all supposed to help.
Plus an acceptance that they are a part of me 🙂
Sometimes, though, I want a little help in minimising their appearance, and this is where primers come into their own. They help to create a smooth surface, whilst not blocking pores. I use NARS pro-prime pore refining primer every day under my tinted moisturiser. Not only does it create a barrier between my skin and the damaging London pollution, but it also helps to diminish pores with prolonged use (pure lentil seed extract). It has a gel like consistency that is not oily but in fact hydrating.
On days when I want skin to be picture perfect and flawless, I add in a second step with a more targeted pore refiner – NARS pro-prime instant line & pore perfector. This little stick fills in any fine lines and pores to create an even more smooth surface, without adding any unnecessary oil. Again, this is designed to not block pores, which would exacerbate the issue. It also contains hyaluronic acid to plump up fine lines and vitamins A, C & E for anti-oxidant protection.
This is my two-step method. There are plenty of other primers out there that can help hide pores, but I haven’t found one that actually contains skincare ingredients with the aim of refining them permanently. Plus I am a NARS junkie 🙂
These sound great. I suffer from the same issue with my pores. I’m going to check this out. Thank you. If you are free, would be great if you could check out my blog on http://www.beautypuzzled.wordpress.com x
Great, do let me know how you get on. I’m always keen to find others who love the same stuff as me 🙂
