Getting away at this time of year, regardless of whether it is a hot or cold holiday, is a great plan. I wrote about hot holiday beauty essentials yesterday, and today I’m covering what would be ideal for a cold trip away.
I think of warm, indulgent baths when on a cold holiday (snow essential). This set from Neom organics has 6 mini bottles of bath oils that can also be used in the shower (apply before showering), enough for 6 nights away. They’re moisturising (safflower, jojoba and vitamin E), natural, and free from petrochemical paraffin or mineral wax. And they smell divine (real luxury – lavender, jasmine and Brazilian rosewood; time to unwind – bluebell, guaiacwood and rose; tranquility – English lavender, sweet basil and jasmine). The set costs £20 and can be found direct from them online.
The extreme cold plays havov with my hands and nails, so I always stock up on a super strength hand cream for these winter holidays. This one from Neutrogena is hard working – the Norwegian formula is 40% glycerin, unscented and perfect for sensitive skins. I have a tube at home for emergencies when the weather here at home gets super cold. It can be bought in most high street chemists and supermarkets for £3.69.
Make up for a hot holiday is so easy – bare skin that looks healthy and a slick of lipgloss. But cold holiday make up for me has to include a pop of colour to lips to give face a healthy look. And this mini lipstick set from Duwop has a choice of 3 colours (private red, private cherry and cherry noir) depending on the mood for the day. They would make ideal handbag lipsticks too. At £12 they are a bargain and can be bought online here.
Sticking with my simple make up theme, adding some waterproof mascara that remains smudge free no matter how damp the air is. My favourite for many years is this one from Dior – Diorshow Blackout – which isn’t cheap at £24.50 but makes lashes look amazing and the black colour is very intense. Worth every penny in my book.
And finally, hair is likely to be tucked into a hat of sorts, and I find it easier to manage when my hair is sleek and frizz free. This silk perfume from Balmain smells amazing (rose, jasmine, gardenia, raspberry, peach, apricot, sandalwood, white musk) and adds a glossy shine to hair that is unrivalled (argan oil), so when you whip your hat off hair is looking and smelling beautiful. It’s £24.50 and probably the closest I will ever get to owning a Balmain Paris item!
So, that would be me set for a cold holiday away, or even a staycation – it’s cold enough! Happy holidays 🙂
